Fear of tigers and an on-coming bus
Fear of the unknown
Fear of the powerful, pleasurable, beneficial unknown.
You will be caught and received.
The pleasure of your risk paying off is the greatest pleasure in the Universe:
romantic pleasure, sexual pleasure, business pleasure, competitive pleasure, creative pleasure.
The pleasure of taking a risk, going into your fear, and it working out is the GREATEST PLEASURE IN THE UNIVERSE.
Fear is a guide
Unlike the I’m-going-to-get-run-over-by-a-bus-fear, the I-really-want-to-do-this-but-I’m-terrified-fear is your best guide. Because our brain wants to keep us safe, it pushes these fears to the back of our head. It tricks us into believing that *this* is not something we actually want.
That is why it is -essential- that you bring those fears to the forefront. That is where a qualified coach comes in. Someone intuitive who can see what you really want beyond the fears and excuses.
Someone who can hold you accountable when you don’t want to go on and move forward. Because the biggest dreams require the biggest sacrifice. The require us to leave our old skin behind and be reborn anew.
Sometimes it’s hard for people who know and love us to tell us the truth. They might know what it is, but we just won’t listen.
Exercise
To move forward, make a list of 10 things that you have been avoiding, that would move your life forward. A list of 10 things you’re terrified of that would shift your life for the better. For example,
#1 Dance in front of people sober
#2 Do a stand up comedy show
#3 Share about my struggles with alcohol publicly
#4 Share my new business with my friends and family on social media
#5 Be truly vulnerable in my next relationship
#6 Sing at the top of my lungs
#7 Get the puppy/ bag/ sweater I’ve wanted for the longest time
#8 Invest in the business/ life/ relationship coaching
#9 Take that trip
#10 Start a Youtube channel
Replace with your own.
Trust the right kind of fear
The path of coming back to ourselves and our true purpose begins with listening to ourselves.
It starts with listening to our inner voice or intuition and acting on it.
If you’ve never done what that feeling in your chest tells you, chances are you’re going to mess up a few times. You’ll learn to distinguish between the mental chatter, your true intuition, good fears, and unnecessary fears.
Here is an example to illustrate that difference. I have never enjoyed partying. In college, everyone did so I thought I should give it a shot. I kept going out and never ended up liking it.
I’ve always wanted to post on social media. I’ve always been afraid of what people will think of me. One day I decided I couldn’t keep living with my truth unexpressed so I did it. Best decision I’ve ever made.
I have many examples of stories like that. Through trial and error you will learn which emotions/ triggers/ voices are the ones you should follow and which do not have your best intentions in mind.
Difference between stuck and thriving
In xxx I read a quote that went something like this: the author asked individuals who felt stuck when was the last time they did something that scared them. They could not recall.
Then she posed the same question to some successful entrepreneurs. Their answers ranged between today/ yesterday/ and last week.
As I illustrated above, success is where the fear is. Leave comfort behind, find people who’ve done it before, be ready to die before you die, and thrive. Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.
Conclusion
It’s not going to be easy. It’s not going to be as hard as you think. Our brain paints the most gruesome, terrifying picture to keep us from doing what might change us.
Take little steps, find guidance, and I believe whole-heartedly that you will achieve what is meant for you.
Sending you much love.
